Midnight Verse

Okay... Technically I found this verse around 4 in the morning... but I'm still going to call it a midnight verse.

The the Lord will bless you with rain at planting time. There will be wonderful harvests and plenty of pastureland for your livestock . The oxen and donkeys that till the ground will eat good grain, its chaff blown away by the wind. In that day, when your enemies are slaughtered and the towers fall, there will be streams of water flowing down every mountain and hill. The moon will be as bright as the sun, and the sun will be seven times brighter - like the light of seven days in one! So it will be when the Lord begins to heal His people and cure the wounds He gave them.
Isaiah 30:23-26

Such beautiful imagery. To think... all of the pain and suffering we go to leads to this, this healing, and this peace. And things we will never be able to understand. Can't feel the streams of water? and see the cattle roam??? I can. So wonderful is He, that can give such things. I find it so amazing that, even though we don't realize it, that we are so much more, after we've been torn apart and pieced back together. Sometimes we need to crash and burn... and sometimes the ashes are just what we need. Have I told you that I'm a phoenix? God has brought me through fire, and I emerged soaring in Him. And I gotta tell ya, these wings sure feel great. =D

God's Beauty is Everywhere

My beautiful dog, Handsome Gent,
 chilling out in his backyard.
Spring Break is almost over, and I've been sleeping in. I woke up this afternoon, to discover that I hadn't gotten up around 8 to let my dog out (before usually returning to bed) but had slept right through it. Luckily, my dog is the prime example of forgiveness, and happily went outside when I let him, and then came back and happily jumped on me, wanting to play. Through his joy, and forgiveness, I caught a small glimpse of God.

He's all around, if we can just see Him. In Arkansas, where I live, Spring is bursting out all around, and His beauty can be seen, whether you're looking for it or not, and me, being the artist that I am, am constantly looking for it. I hope everybody has an awesome weekend, and remember to look for His beauty, in even the little things.

A Preface that Sticks.

Occasionally I read something that really makes sense to me... usually a quote, or an exert from a book. Sometimes its artwork, and often it's poetry. Today I read the Preface to Les Miserables, a book I'm planning to read. And it made sense... it's one of those things that will stick with me, and I'll remember for a long time to come, just because of the intense emotion that I felt when reading it.
So here it is:

"So long as there shall exist, by reason of law and custom, a social condemnation, which in the face of civilization, artificially creates hells on earth, and complicates a destiny that is divine, with human fatality; so long as three problems of the age - the degradation of man by poverty, the ruin of woman by starvation, and the dwarfing of childhood by physical and spiritual night - are not solved; so long as in certain regions, social asphyxia shall be possible, in other words, and from a yet more extended point of view, so long as ignorance and misery remain on earth, books like this cannot be useless."
~Hauterville House, 1862

I love Les Mis. I love the musical, and the movie, and based on the amazing preface, I'm guessing I'm going to love the book too. Les Mis is about Jean Val Jean, a convicted felon, who finds his soul purchased for God. He breaks parole, and starts a new life, trying to be the best person that he can be. He, and his adopted daughter, soon get caught up in the French Revolution... an all around bad scenario. It's a beautiful love story, involving the politics and history of the time. This story pulls at my heart strings in so many ways.

I love learning about history; it has so many facets and despite what most people believe, its not boring. There are so many fascinating events and occurrences that happened throughout history, and there's so much we can learn from the experiences of the generations before us. I personally love learning about the American Civil War. My National History Day project, entitled Separation Beyond Mere States: The True Cruelty of the Civil War is about how the Civil War affected families, and tore apart relationships. I would love it if you decided to check it out, just click on the title and it'll take you there. I recently won 1st place in the district competition in my category, and will be going to state next month... I think? If I place at state, I get to go to Washington DC, which is extremely exciting. See? I told you I'm nerdy. =D

A little about me...

Welcome to my blog. This is my second blog, my other blog is for my AP English Class, if you wanna check it out anyways, click here.

This blog if just for me to express my thoughts, and be me. I probably wont blog much, because I'm scatterbrained, and slightly forgetful. But if I randomly feel the need to express myself, this will be where it happens. I love to read, and I'm an artist - i love all mediums, but my best is probably graphite. If you'd like to see my personal website, or as I like to call it "My Online Gallery" go here. This has most of my artwork, as well as my photography, but again, I'm scatterbrained, so it doesn't get updated all that much.

I'm extremely nerdy, and I'm currently taking two advanced classes, U.S. History and English. I'm a junior in high school, and I'm hoping to go to Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University when I graduate.... but it's kind of expensive, so I'm trying to get a scholarship.

I'm a bookworm who really loves the classics, like Jane Austen books: Pride and Prejudice in particular; I've also read Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling... twice; I love, love, love Gone with the Wind, and felt that Scarlett was an extreme let down. I'm currently reading the Lord of the Rings series, and after that I plan on reading the complete and unabridged version of Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.

I'm sarcastic, and I often come across as rude because I call it like I see it, and I'm brutally honest. For an artist, I'm pretty down to Earth, and I try to keep my idiotic, girly emotions to myself. Just recently, I was dubbed Jo, from Little Women - another of my favorites - based on my tomboy attitude. One of my friends even tried to teach me how to waltz... I didn't go well. I've also been nicknamed "The Voice of Reason" based on my logical outlook when it comes to relationships. I believe that the heart can easily be lead astray, causing dependence on the mind when making important decisions. My belief system is transferred into all my advice, and I'm usually the one friends come to when having girlfriend/boyfriend issues. I'm painfully observant, and can usually pin someones personality, just by how they walk, talk, and behave themselves. I'm also a firm believer in setting goals so high, that even if you fall short, you're still among the stars. I've been known to push myself, and others to reach their goals, and hopefully, their full potential.

Now to the really important part... My faith. I'm a Jesus Freak, I love Jesus with all my heart, and will follow him anywhere. I believe His love is the strongest thing in the universe, and because of it, I am able to be purified, despite my many, many faults. He will care for me always, just as he cares for you. I personally hate the word "religion." To me, religion is the act of going to church, singing songs, and claiming to be His own. But it stops there: just outside the church doors. I want to live beyond Sunday Morning Christianity... into a relationship, that extends the borders of church, and seeps through every pore of my being. At least that's my goal.

I have a lot to share, If I can remember to share it... tonight I'll probably post more then most nights, but hopefully I'll remember to let the world know some of my crazy thoughts once a week. Toodles.
